CEREBRAL THROMBOSIS AND APHASIA

Abstract
A case of cerebral thrombosis in the dominant heshowed expressive aphasia and mental deterioration.
On admission she had no complaints or insight.
Neurological examinations revealed no lateralizing sign except slightly shallow naso-labial fold on the right. Because of her deteriorated mental condition and speech disturbances without significant focal neurological sign she had received psychiatric treatment at a mental hospital under the diagnosis of a psychosis - for several months.
Serial neurological and laboratory examinations disclosed occlusion of the anterior and the middle cerebral arteries in the left suggesting cerebral thrombosis. We presented this case as an example of the executive aphasia due to cerebral thrombosis and reviewed speech disorders.
